Jonny Beavis - Rhythm Guitar & Vocals

I first started learning the guitar in year five and the main reason was because I thought it would make me a “real cool dude.”  A founder member of the original Selium, back when there were only three of us – Jack, Harry and me – I was there when it all began.

My favourite part of playing live is definitely the feeling I get looking out at the huge crowd in front of me and getting that incentive to just go mental and dance like an idiot.  That, and seeing the crowd getting involved - singing and dancing with you, are positively the best parts of performing live.

All of us in Selium have a fun-loving mentality and we love to get the audience up on their feet and make them want to dance. My influences are taken from all genres. My favourite artists are: Coldplay, Kanye West, N-Dubz, U2, Barry Manilow, The Police, AttackAttack! Breathe Carolina, The Lonely Island, Calvin Harris, T-Pain, Muse, James Morrison, Jonas Brothers, Enter Shikari, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and loads more!

The most worrying thing that has ever happened before a gig is when I drank eight Red Bull energy beverages a few hours before going on stage and I actually thought I was going to go into cardiac arrest, luckily I didn’t but if I had Selium would not exist today so thank the gods (and the makers of cheese strings) that those beverages did not harm my respiratory system.
