Selium - About The Band

About The Band

Selium are a classic five-piece, teen rock band, originating from Yateley in Hampshire.  They formed in 2007 and after a brief period of performing instrumental numbers at school concerts, they recruited their charismatic front man Connor Jones and launched into their current incarnation as indie-styled, converse-wearing rock gods.

Their early period was heavily influenced by up-beat bands like Blink 182 and Feeder, and they have risen to fame on the strength of such up-tempo popular covers as ‘All the Small Things’ and ‘Buck Rogers’.  Composing their own songs, Selium have quickly built up an impressive set of crowd-pleasing, tongue-in-cheek numbers.  The catchy, quirky ‘Bournemouth’ is a perennial favourite with Seliumites, and their song-writing has continued to produce a succession of lively, toe-tapping numbers that get the audience jumping.

Their clean-living image has been jeopardised at times by Wildcard Connor Jones, who courted disaster at several gigs by lobbing a popular cheese snack into the audience.  Angry cries of “Lay off the cheese, man” and “That was my eye!” were followed by hurried apologies and the tiny cheese missiles seem unlikely to make a reappearance.  First-aiders described the stunt as “ill-advised” but many bystanders were said to have enjoyed the dairy refreshments.  One thing is certain – at a Selium gig, you should expect the unexpected.

Selium have established themselves as Battle of the Bands heavyweights, rampaging through to the final of the Maidenhead BOTB in 2009.  Spotted during the qualifying rounds, they were quickly snapped up to headline at Silchester’s prestigious Music Festival a few weeks later.

Interest in the band continues to grow at a phenomenal rate and their much-anticipated first EP is certain to take the world by storm in 2010.
